I met Elizabeth Poett in Waco, TX after we both started filming our shows for The Magnolia Network. Elizabeth is the rare combination of movie star glamour and a down-to-earth rancher. Her new cookbook tells the story of her picture book ranch, filled with cattle, honey bees, lavender fields, and views one could never get tired of. Most importantly it is where her family has lived for seven generations.

I like this deep dish apple tart pie. I like so many though it’s hard to have a favorite. My fav lately has been lemon meringue. Whenever I go out to visit family in Utah, if I happen to be in the area of Bicknell Utah, I have to stop at this place called the Sunglow restaurant and they sell this sampler that has 4 small slices of pie: pickle, buttermilk, oatmeal, and pinto bean…surprisingly they are really good too!
