I met Elizabeth Poett in Waco, TX after we both started filming our shows for The Magnolia Network. Elizabeth is the rare combination of movie star glamour and a down-to-earth rancher. Those things seem an impossible mix and yet, Elizabeth pulls it off with rugged elegance. She has a passion for her traditions, her land, and her family, which makes her so relatable.

[GIVEAWAY! Scroll to the bottom to find out how you can win a copy of Elizabeth Poett’s new cookbook!]

Her new cookbook tells the story of her picture book ranch, filled with cattle, honey bees, lavender fields, and views one could never get tired of. Most importantly it is where her family has lived for seven generations.

I am decidedly a city dweller but I am so captivated and curious about her bucolic world. If you’ve seen her show, Ranch to Table, you’ve probably felt the same pull to ranch life. You can get her recipes and stories in her new book, The Ranch Table, which includes this family-favorite peanut butter meringue pie. Be sure to check out Elizabeth’s show! Season 4 just launched on Magnolia Network.

My sister makes a peanut butter pie that is to die for. But it takes hours to make so I only made it once. But I will try this recipe to see if it is a quicker version!

  8. Has to be Pecan Pie! My husband grew up in
South Georgia and they had pecan trees in their yard. I am from the north and we pronounced it Pe-kahn. Those from Georgia say Pe-can (like a metal can for beans). Either way the are sweet and delicious. My nickname for our daughter is Pecan Pie as she is sweet and nutty

My favorite pie is an apple pie with raisins and crumb topping. The raisins are simmered in some rum and sugar and allows to get syrupy. They really elevate the taste of the apples, and the crumb topping with brown sugar and butter completes the yummy deliciousness

  14. Our family favorites pie, hands down, is fresh strawberry with a thin layer of cream cheese on the bottom of the pie shell. Tastes great and an added bonus is it helps keep the crust from getting soggy from the berries!

  15. I love Dutch apple pie. All the crumbs on the top of the mound of delicious apples. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.

  16. I’m not sure there is any pie that I would turn down. But if I have to choose, it’s got to be cherry!

  17. When I was a kid I had a cousin who made these amazing peanut butter chocolate squares. I was a kid and didn’t bake but when I see images of that it sends me back in time. I’ve since found a recipe and made it. It’s amazing how food can transport you to a time and place. I have a sweet tooth much to Drs dismay but I’ve been trying to up my baking game for a few years now. It’s just so fun.

This Peanut Butter Meringue Pie sounds absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to have my grand children 18 and 16 , help me make this.
My favorite pie came from my grandmother on my moms side, passed down to mom. Grape Hull Pie, made with muscadine grapes. White or black grapes. It is a recipe that your hulls go into the recipe.
