You certainly can use powdered! Zoe recommends 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon and 1/8-1/4 tsp ground cardamom. Cheers!

I thought I’d try making this with Okinawan sweet potatoes. They are drier than the frida ones so I added a bit more liquid. The color was even better than with the fridas, and it tasted good but the texture was too pasty. I think it would need more fat to give it a proper custard texture.

On the show there wasn’t any shortening in the crust from the show. It also had a bit of vodka.
