Great question, I am not sure, I will ask around and see if I can find out. mascarpone will be too soft to mimic cream cheese.

Question...I live in France...and the Philly &#039;tub&#039; cream cheese is not nearly as &#039;dense&#039; as the block format of Philly in the States...Would you know of a suitable European conversion for the cream cheese factor?!  I am wondering of a mix of Philly &#039;tub&#039; cream cheese and mascarpone might work?!  I actually have heard of ex-pats substituting Kiri &#039;cheese&#039;....lol...but I must admit I am perplexed!!  My family really misses NY cheesecake...as do I!!
