@Carrie, the problem with adding sprinkles or jimmies to the frosting is that they bleed their color all over the place, so you lose the illusion of perfectly white frosting with rainbow speckles. Sure, the streaks are pretty too, but it’s not discrete dots of color like the prepared frosting.
